This 1964 Ordnance Survey of Ireland map shows Cork city’s official boundary line, in red, before an extended boundary came into effect on 1 July 1965. Newly incorporated areas in 1965 included what became known as Knocknaheeny, Hollyhill, Fairhill, Ballyvolane, Silverheights, and Tivoli Docks on the north side of the Lee. New areas within the extended boundary south of the river included Victoria Cross, all of the Model Farm Road, more than half of College Road and of Magazine Road, Glasheen, Wilton, Bishopstown, Togher, Douglas Road, Ballinlough, Blackrock Road, Ballintemple, and Blackrock village. The 1965 boundary is represented by a broken red line on the map.
