This autograph book contains written and pictorial contributions from a number of military personnel recovering in the Racecourse Hospital, Cheltenham, England, during the final years of World War I.
This hospital, in the grandstand at Cheltenham racecourse (Prestbury Park), was one of many voluntary aid (V.A.) hospitals set up by the Red Cross in Britain to help injured military personnel during the war years.
The original autograph book was loaned to Cork City Libraries to be digitized for our Web pages by Mr Kieran O’Donovan. Mr O’Donovan’s grandfather’s autograph appears in the manuscript.
Cork City Libraries welcomes items from members of the public for addition to our digital library and our Website.
