Other information The Boy Friend was the first musical to be produced by the Everyman company and the group — with help from local sources, such as David Gordon, of the Cork-based Irish Ballet Company, who directed the show. To help with the financial burden of running the musical, Barry's Tea of Princes Street provided sponsorship.

The Boy Friend proved popular with Cork audiences and played for a two-week run from 24 January to 4 February. By popular demand the production returned for another two-week run at the Everyman Playhose from 1 to 12 May.
